Recently, we’ve received a large number of inquiries. Most questions focus on how to choose the right products, whether the products are safe, and what items are currently popular in the market. It’s clear that these concerns leave many customers and consumers feeling unsure.
In today’s economic climate, people are more mindful of their spending, which makes the decision-making process even more important. At WINYI, we truly value our customers’ time and the effort that goes into making the right choice — you are always our top priority.
Drawing from over 10 years of ODM & OEM industry experience and long-term, close communication with consumers, we’ve summarized some practical insights to share with you. This guide focuses mainly on product safety, especially materials and certifications.
1. Materials(Custom-made sex toys)
Many adult products come into direct contact with the body, so the materials used are directly related to user safety. Common external materials include:Silicone, Plastic, TPE, TPR, Metal, Glass, Leather (commonly used in BDSM products).
Currently, silicone is the most widely used core material in adult products, so we’ll focus on it in more detail.
1.1 Types of Silicone
Silicone used in adult products is generally divided into:
(1) Solid Silicone
This type uses peroxide curing agents. If solid silicone is used, you should require the supplier to perform secondary curing to ensure any harmful substance residue remains within safe limits.
(2) Liquid Silicone
Liquid silicone is more environmentally friendly than solid silicone and is commonly used in medical products and baby pacifiers. It is cured with 100% platinum catalysts, which makes it safer — but also more expensive — than solid silicone.
Friendly Tip:
Silicone oil is a key component of silicone. We can’t resist a small mention here: WINYI uses silicone oil from internationally recognized top brands such as Dow Corning, ShinEtsu, and Wacker.
1.2 Silicone Hardness (Shore Hardness)
Silicone hardness ranges from 0 to 70 Shore.
- Vibrators typically use silicone in the 0–30 Shore range (30 Shore is most common).
- Anal plugs are generally firmer, often in the 30–70 Shore range.
Different hardness levels create different tactile sensations. As people place more focus on comfort and body awareness, low-hardness liquid silicone (0–10 Shore, very soft) is becoming increasingly popular, even though it costs more than solid silicone.
If you can’t physically see or feel the product, you can ask the supplier to provide relevant material certifications.
2. Certifications
Adult products are generally expected to have the following certifications:RoHS, FCC, CE, FDA, California Proposition 65 (for the U.S. market)
Company-level certifications may include: ISO 9000.
These certifications help ensure product safety, compliance, and quality standards.
3. Q&A
Q1: How should the product be cleaned?
You can wash it with clean water, a dedicated toy cleaner, or a mild body wash. After cleaning, gently pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel.
Q2: How should the product be stored?
Most products come with a storage pouch, and some include a storage case. Use these to keep the product clean and protected when not in use.
We hope this guide helps you make safer and more confident product choices.
